His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in a titah welcomed more exchanges to foster mutual trust, respect, and understanding among the people, and further welcomed the 2026 ASEAN-China Year to mark the Fifth Anniversary of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. His Majesty made the titah while attending the 28th ASEAN-China Summit held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. Before attending the summit, His Majesty attended the Signing Ceremony of the ASEAN-China Free Trade Area 3.0 Upgrade. Accompanying His Majesty was His Royal Highness Prince Abdul Mateen.

The ASEAN Member States have agreed to sign the ASEAN-China Free Trade Area 3.0 upgrade, which would increase trade between ASEAN and the People's Republic of China. China has been ASEAN's largest trading partner for 16 consecutive years while ASEAN has been China's main trading partner for the past five years. The Signing Ceremony was witnessed by the Heads of State and Government of ASEAN and the People's Republic of China.
